Moisture-Resistant Framing for Boats and Baths

I’ve been a boater for nearly 20 years. Like all boaters, I’ve fought off mildew, humidity and general dampness despite my best efforts to keep it out.  When I got my latest sailboat, a Morgan 22, my sister gave me a piece of pottery she created and it has successfully held my most important tools without mishap. It is a joy to have a piece of original art in a place I never thought possible. Her gift inspired me to develop a custom picture framing system that could hold its own in the marine environment. Nothing is absolutely perfect, but this system will make it easier to have a framed picture in your cabin by significantly reducing the effects of normal humidity and moisture.

If you need your safety instructions mounted near your radio, you want to show off that classic picture of your boat on a club cruise or enjoy the watercolor you picked up on the Eastern shore, then this system is for you. For those who want to add a piece of art or a print to dress up a restroom and you are concerned about the steam from the shower, this system will work for you as well.

v     A selection of plastic frame mouldings that look like wood, are mildew resistant and weigh less than wood is available. Regular wood moulding may be used as well.

                  -  Metal frames are not recommended if the picture will be in a place that someone may bump into it as these frames have                   sharp corners. Also, the aluminum finish will degrade over time if the boat interior is not always climate controlled.

v     Scratch resistant plexiglass eliminates the possibility of broken glass, weighs less than glass and comes with an ultraviolet filter to reduce image fading.

v     Three layers of moisture-resistant materials are used to seal the image and mat board.

v     Choose from several hanging systems to meet your needs, including safety hangers that allow simple removal.

v     It will look like a normal framed piece with a few extras to help it last a long, long time.
